Being single is great but also challenging at the same time. Yes, we all want to meet our soulmate, but how on earth can we do that with this ‘‘new way” of dating? There may possibly be more couples breaking up than forming. In fact, recent research shows that this generation’s will to marry is way lower than the previous ones. Hence, you don’t have to worry about being single, because chances are, we all are going to end up like that.
That being said, being single is not a downgrade at all. Actually, wouldn’t prefer to stay single, then trapped in the wrong relationship? Or at least, that’s what these movies are trying to tell us. So, when you start overthinking about the perks of being in love, here are few movies to remind you why being single is actually great.
500 Days Of Summer
This movie depicts perfectly the struggles of a relationship. We all do want love, but are we all really willing to deal with all its ups and downs? While almost all single people out there ”feel” ready, there’s a fine line between wanting affection, and being truly prepared for what love will have coming at you.
Tom and Summer’s relationship, is actually very close to 80% of real-life relationships. Sometimes, you end up giving too much to someone who is not willing to do the same. Or, sometimes, one falls out of love, and there is nothing you can do to prevent that from happening.
Love Actually
One of our favorite romance movies for Christmas time! This epic movie will remind you why being single is great. Mainly, because it makes you realize that despite the sacrifices you make for someone, and regardless of how perfect you are, you could en up hurt anyways. In addition, it also shows you what can happen when you let go of the wrong relationship, as he world is prepared to reward you with something even better.
Gone Girl
Ben Affleck just gets to experience first-hand the hell that a hurt woman can get you through. After his wife finds out that he cheated on her, she makes his life unbearable. Basically, she fakes her own death in the most genius way, so all signs indicate that her husband was her killer. The mastermind had to disappear, change everything about herself, and just watches her man pay the price for his infidelity. If anything, after watching this movie, you’ll be glad you don’t have anyone cheating on you, and even less, having to contemplate vengeance to serve it on a cold plate.
Life Itself
On the contrary, love itself is more about how one event can change the life of so many people. However, it shows clearly that every failed relationship you ever had, is actually part of a bigger plan. The universe might be saving the best for you behind all the heartbreak, and healing. This movie really gets you to believe that the reason why you are single, is because you are meant to wait for that extraordinary person, who will make everything seem right. You don’t have to convince someone of your worth, because the right person will know it already.
Legally Blonde
Elle woods would have never made that great career for herself if she didn’t get dumped. In fact, she challenged herself, pushed herself to the limit, and exceeded everyone’s expectation. Yes, she is the best fictional example of why being single is great. In addition, heartbreak didn’t only allow her to make a name for herself, but also find the person she was meant to be with. Of course, none of that would’ve happened if she would’ve stayed in her initial relationship, and settled for a mediocre love and life.
How To Be Single
This feel-good rom-com is what you need when you feel that you are tired of being single. Many women actually can’t stand being alone, so they jump from one relationship to another. Learning how to be single is important, because it allows you to gain a clearer perspective. Also, lean to reflect on your past relationships, notice patterns, and give yourself time to heal properly. And, remember this: You will never attract the best kind of love until you learn to give that kind of love to yourself, first.
