Psychology: Why Are Men And Women Wired Differently?

This post is not to answer the big question of why are men hard to understand, and vice-versa. However, we are recompiling what psychology found about why men and women are wired differently. It’s an undeniable truth than each gender has their different way of perceiving, analyzing, and understanding. Nevertheless, this exact reason is what makes up the great balance in the universe, allowing both types of energy to attract each other.

Furthermore, men and women are wired differently due to their physiological composition. In fact, psychologists argue that men’s frontal lobe takes longer to mature than that of women. So, it makes perfect sense why there is always a difference is ”reasoning” between the two! In addition, this is just one of the main differences, here are more reasons why men and women are wired differently.

Processing

Yes, processing information is remotely different between males and females. What does that mean? Well, the brain percepts information into either a grey or a white matters. Men, have ‘‘seven times more gray matter”, while women have 10 times more white matter. In simplified words, this means that once men are focused on something, they tend to block outside influence. Did you ever try to talk to man while he’s playing video games? That’s a perfect example of the situation. Moreover, women are able to ”multitask”, since the white matter allows them to be more sensitive to their surrounding, and switch between tasks quickly.

When it comes to relationships and dating, this means that men have their narrative set on stone. If he is concentrated on just sleeping with you, then he is ”wired” to only have that in his mind, and unfortunately, nothing you will do can change it.

Chemistry

Regarding chemistry, both genders process the same neurochemicals but to different degrees. Men and females are wired differently, in terms of the hormones they produce. Men on one hand, have a higher level of  testosterone, which induces their sex drive. That’s why, they often appear more sexual, and opt for different partners more than women. On the other hand, women produce estrogen, the hormone of reproduction and birth. Therefore, they tend to have a soft spot for settling down and having a family. In addition, women also produce more oxytocin than men, which is a hormone that allows the creation of bonds and emotional connections. So, if you have ever wondered why men are not quickly attached, while women can get easily hooked, there goes your answer.

Brain Activity

Furthermore, brain activity consists of major differences between women and men. Since forever, males complain that women can’t be understood, and vice-versa. In reality, it’s just the neurotic and psychological contradiction that make us feel that way. As we mentioned before, men in general, when confronted with an emotional situation, they see two options: Wether they can change it, which they try to do. Or, close it up and move on. Consequently, when they analyze situations, they spend a lot of time thinking about it. However, when they decide to ”close the chapter”, they move on quickly.

Women though react differently. If something matters to them, they overthink it, analyze every angle of it, and hold on to whatever shred of hope they can find.

Reasoning

All of the above leads us here. The different composition of males vs females brains, is what makes reasoning (sometimes) impossible between the two. In fact, when confronted with a discussion, the processing and brain activity is different. Therefore, it seems that both parts are not sharing common grounds. Often, it’s done unconsciously. So, instead of arguing that one gender is more difficult than the other, it’s essential to understand how each resonates.
