When you feel stuck or lost in life, the most important thing to do is to breathe. It’s more than a normal feeling, and we all go through it. In fact, feeling overwhelmed with your life is actually a sign, that you are on the right path. Because if you don’t question, reflect and worry, then you are not really allowing yourself to grow. Moreover, psychology recommends meditation, as an exercise that helps calm the mind and focus on the present. Nevertheless, everyone experiences moments in which they feel helpless, vulnerable and just plain sad. If you are going through one of those moments, hang in there! And to remind you that it’s always sucks less than it seems, here are 10 signs that prove your are doing better than you think.
You Have Food
If you can afford to eat three times a day, then you are definitely doing better than you think. Not to make you feel bad or anything, but there are many people who can’t find/afford to eat ONCE a day! So, if you open your fridge and you have what to eat, pause a moment and give some thanks.
Can Afford To Pamper Yourself
Wether through a subway ride, a cup of coffee or even a trip. If you have an income and can afford to buy things for you-other than necessities- you are pretty lucky. When you feel a bit down, treat yourself to something you like, and cheer up!
A Good Friend
They say ”If you have a good friend, then you have it all.” And that’s absolutely true! If you have someone you can vent to (a friend, a partner, a sibling, a mother…etc), then you already have something treasurable in life. Yes, not only material things are signs of success, but strong human connections are too.
Plans For The Future
You’ll be graduating soon, starting a new job, volunteering, moving abroad…etc. The future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams. So, if you have hopes, aspirations and plans for the future, you have a pretty big reason to hold on. Just keep reminding yourself, that whatever you’re going through is temporary, and this too, shall pass.
You Are Constantly Changing
Close your eyes, and think back of who you were a year ago. Can you see a difference? Where were you then? Who were you with? Sometimes, nothing helps you feel better than looking back through time. In fact, it makes you realize that everything can change so quickly, and it’s always good to remember to enjoy each moment, because time is the only thing you can never get back again.
You’ve Had Bad Relationships
Yes, this is a huge sign that you are doing better than you think. Actually, it shows that you are in the right direction in your life. Having loved and lost, is an immensely enriching experience, even when it doesn’t seem like it. In fact, bad relationships make you more mature, teach you patience, and above all, show you what you don’t want in a partner. Moreover, you become more experiences, and recognize toxic traits and red flags sooner.
You Are In Good Health
I honestly think that if we have learned anything from this Coronavirus crisis, is to appreciate a good immune-system. Being healthy and not suffering from any chronic condition, is the biggest blessing of all. In fact, if you can get up and take a walk without pain, should make you realize that you are living your best years, and that you should enjoy every second of them.
Survived Lots Of Crap
In addition to having had bad relationships, you most certainly went through lots of crap. And guess what? You have survived each and every one of those bad times. Even when you thought you were at your lowest, you somehow managed to get up again. So, despite whatever reason you feel depressed, remember all those times you survived the same (or maybe even worse) scenarios.
You Have Hobbies
You like to paint, cook, workout…etc. Things that make you happy, are things that you need to do more often. When you feel down, go for a run, a walk, a swim…Immerse yourself in the joy of your hobbies and doing what you love! And always remember to be grateful, because there are people in the world who don’t have the ”luxury” of having/practicing hobbies.
Understand Your Feelings
Finally, one of the signs you are doing better than you think, is that you can put a name to what you feel. The sum of all the experiences you’ve lived taught you to understand your feelings. Therefore, when you feel tired, get some rest. And when you feel happy, enjoy it. And even when you feel sad, don’t hold it in. Express your feelings, and allow yourself to feel them. Sometimes, all it takes is to understand what’s going on inside you, in order to be able to manage your emotions better.
