7 Things That Can Help You Become A Happier Person

Oh happiness, isn’t all everyone wants at the end of the day? When we think about it, to become a happier person is all we really need from life. Furthermore, many people argue that happiness is actually a state of mind, and can only be achieved within yourself. So, you may ask, what do I need to do to become a happier person?

Well, although it seems complicated at first, changing your perspective and outlook towards life is the first step. In fact, it takes few minor changes for your life to change 360 degrees. Many people also confess that meditation, and learning to control their emotions helped them become happier, we show you 7 other things you can do on to help you become a happier person.

Be Grateful

Happiness starts when you learn to be grateful for what you have. Yes, we always worry about the future, and of course, we always want and expect more. But, have you ever taken a second to give thanks for the little things you have? Although you may not have much money, or a partner or the best job…But if you have a roof over your head, you can afford a hot meal and have someone who cares about you, trust me, you have what you need to be happy.

Let Go Of What You Can’t Control

Moreover, things aren’t always gonna go our way and that’s a fact. It’s absolutely okay and normal to have ups and downs in life. However, don’t let things you can’t control drain you and your emotions. Therapists’ first advice is to learn self-control. So, if something happens and you cannot change it, don’t dwell on it but instead, let go of it. Everything is hard at first, until you get your hands on a mechanism that helps you cope better with the difficult situations you encounter in your life.

Acceptance

After self-control, the second step is accepting whatever your situation is. However, this doesn’t mean lack of effort, nor not trying hard enough. Acceptance is key to moving forward in any life scenario. Wether it’s a rough breakup, or loss of a dear person, or even altered life plans…In fact, in most cases, it takes acceptance to realize that life has more better things to reward you. Because accepting that whatever it was what you lost, was just not meant for you, is the last step of grief and the first one towards becoming a happier person.

Body And Mind Excerises

Furthermore, achieving a calm state of mind requires practice, as it doesn’t come overnight. Most of us are actually not aware just how powerful our brains can be. Therefore, we don’t know how to block all the negative thoughts we get sometimes. For that reason, therapists recommend meditation as a practice to tame the mind and train your thoughts. In addition, physical activity and exercising are a good way to release endorphins, and uplift your mood when feeling down.

Don’t Compare

Comparison is the thief of joy, Literally. It makes no sense to compare your life with that of someone else. Because we are all unique, and have our own experiences, values and sentiments. Yes, your neighbor may have a fancier garden, but maybe he feels alone every night they sleep. We are all going through something that we don’t show to others. So, compassion should always come before comparison, if you want to become a happier person.

Live In The Moment

Everything we have mentioned above is supposed to eventually lead you here. Yes, the short-way to happiness is in living the moment. Regardless of how you feel, knowing that the moment you are in, is priceless because it would never happen again. In fact, time is the only thing you can’t buy, nor get back again. I personally think that the reason we often reminisce about the past, is because we know we didn’t take advantage of the present as we should have.

Learn Your Self Worth

When things go bad for us, especially when we get fired or dumbed, we resort to auto-damaging our self esteem. Yet, this is exactly what makes us feel even more sad than we already are. So instead of questioning why all the bad things had to happen to you, be confident and have some faith in yourself. That guy didn’t leave you because you’re not worth it, but because your relationship with them was toxic. Once we learn to appreciate ourselves better, we will attract kinder, and happier vibes and humans.
